Northeastern University reports students' enrollment statuses to the National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) periodically throughout the academic year. The NSC then reports this information to the National Student Loan Data System and awarded degree information also send to Nelnet for students with loans.
The information is used for degree verification, student time status check, and degree award dates for loan providers and third-party verification.
The follow students are reported to the clearinghouse:
- All domestic, degree-seeking students whose home campus is in United States.
- All US domestic students with title IV award whose home campus is in Canada. The student list is provided by FA on a term basis.
- Only required information is provided to NSC based on NSC Enrollment Reporting Guide.
- Student time status is calculated based on the following criteria:
- All students who are enrolled in courses with "GNFT" attribute are counted as FT regardless of the total course credits
- All students who only enrolled in one "GNPT" course, then the student is counted as PT regardless of the actual course credits.
- All students who enrolled in one "GNPT" course plus other classes and the credit for the PT course is 0, then count the PT course as the minimum PT credits for the student's level plus the total of other registered credits.
- All GR students who enrolled with only 6 or 7 credits but received stipend are counted as FT due to the policy provided in Student Time Status < Northeastern University Academic Catalog . Financial Aid office provides the list of stipend students to registrar on a termly basis.
- Use Student Time Status < Northeastern University Academic Catalog as the guide for each different time status scenario for students who are not in the above situations.
