Drop or Withdraw from a Class

Need help? Contact your academic advisor with questions about dropping or withdrawing from classes.

How to Drop or Withdraw

Drop or withdraw through the Student Hub by the applicable deadline. For instructions, see the "Drop a Class" section in the Registering for Classes article.

Important Deadlines

Find your deadlines in the Academic Calendar based on your academic level.

Drop Deadline: If you drop by this date, the class is removed from your schedule and transcript entirely.

Withdrawal Deadline: If you withdraw by this date, you receive a W grade on your transcript with no credit earned. We recommend meeting with your instructor and advisor first to discuss academic and financial implications.

After the withdrawal deadline: You cannot withdraw from the class. You will remain enrolled and receive a grade.

Special Considerations

International Students (F-1 or J-1 visa): You must contact the Office of Global Services before dropping below full-time enrollment. A W grade does not count toward full-time status.

Students with holds: If a hold prevents you from dropping/withdrawing online, or if your class has special drop rules, submit a Course Drop Request through the Student Hub (Registrar Forms) by 11:59 p.m. on the last day to drop or withdraw. See the step-by-step Instructions on how to submit the course drop request via the Student Hub (PDF). Requests submitted after the deadline will not be processed.
